If I recall, Arthur C. Clarke's descriptions indicated that you could see stars during the day on the moon. The reason you cannot on Earth is that the haze of the atmosphere reflects sunlight around, which drowns out starlight.

In this daylight color photo taken on the moon notice how black the sky is. Stars would show up in that -- might even be visible if you saw the photo in a good printing, as perhaps your library might have. Also notice your description of the land being the color of concrete is about right, at least for this location.

Conrad.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1722061418517610572.post-84843392233921713052012-02-02T08:16:04.131-08:002012-02-02T08:16:04.131-08:00Yeah, I'm thinking the lunar maria would be he...Yeah, I'm thinking the lunar maria would be heavy in basalt. That would be really cool if you could get your lunar scientist buddy to chime in on this! Perhaps you could relay his answer back here for me? I appreciate it.Jizabozhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16633158303566715499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1722061418517610572.post-10090078254778060052012-02-02T08:11:57.417-08:002012-02-02T08:11:57.417-08:00Heh-heh. May I ask what color did you decide on for Phobos?Jizabozhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16633158303566715499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1722061418517610572.post-85699976129510848692012-02-01T18:00:30.289-08:002012-02-01T18:00:30.289-08:00From what I've been able to find, lunar regoli...From what I've been able to find, lunar regolith is light to dark grey. I think most lunar rocks are basalt. Actually, if you give me a day or two, a friend of mine is a lunar scientist. I might be able to contact him about it, or put the two of you into contact if you'd like.DBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01292369599612909510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1722061418517610572.post-24534971997293161022012-02-01T17:36:02.265-08:002012-02-01T17:36:02.265-08:00Ha, I was wrestling with that same question (the c...Ha, I was wrestling with that same question (the color of the soil on Phobos) for Pantomime. I had no idea what false color pictures were supposed to be when I started the project, which totally messed up what I thought it looked line in my head.Robbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04072558393478605194noreply@blogger.com
